Atmagnani (Self realized) Pujyashri Deepakbhai Desai was born on May 9th, 1953 in Morbi, Gujarat (a state in India). He was introduced to Pujya Dadashri (fondly known as “Dada Bhagwan”) by his elder brother at the age of 17 while studying engineering at VJTI College in Bombay. His brother told him that Pujya Dadashri's science would help him remember and focus on his studies.

Destined to lead a life of spirituality, this quite, gentle, soft-spoken young ‘jain’ found this worldly life tedious and insipid. Feeling as if something was missing, he remained unsatisfied with the worldly life. Thus without any clarity, he remained directionless. His spiritual calling in life came upon meeting Pujya Dadashri and on receiving Self-realization from him on March 6th, 1971.

From then on, he developed great interest in learning more about Pujya Dadashri’s amazing and practical science of liberation. Coincidentally, at the same time Pujya Niruma, who was in constant seva (devoted service) of Pujya Dadashri, had to leave to give her final medical exam. She left Pujya Deepakbhai with responsibility to transcribe Pujya Dadashri’s satsangs from recorded audio cassettes. Since then he has been deeply involved in writing Pujya Dadashri’s speech and later joined Pujya Niruma in compiling material to publish all of Pujya Dadashri’s books on various topics.

He soon finished his education and graduated as a mechanical engineer. While fulfilling his worldly duties, working and eventually starting his own business, his spiritual progress continued uninterrupted.

Once in satsang around 1974, Pujya Dadashri asked Pujya Deepakbhai, “since you are a vaniya (a caste, business being the dominant profession), you must be good at keeping accounts? So do one thing, every night before you go to sleep, check your accounts for the day. Check where you missed applying the 5 agnas (cardinal instructions) and reset them for the following day.”

Given a golden key, Pujya Deepakbhai sincerely followed Pujya Dadashri’s instructions, incorporating this simple method into his routine. Within 2 to 3 years, his level of awareness increased tremendously. When Pujya Dadashri noticed it in 1977, he said that Deepakbhai’s level of awareness hasn’t existed since Lord Mahavir’s times, and he will adorn Lord Mahavir’s teachings.

During the years of the 1970’s whenever Pujya Niruma and Pujya Deepakbhai had free time, Pujya Niruma would talk to Pujya Deepakbhai about brahmacharya (celibacy), jagat kalyaan (salvation of the world), Dada Bhagwan and the importance of the Gnani Purush (Self realized soul). This awakened a deep and constant reverence for Pujya Dadashri, while making his determination to practice brahmacharya stronger and planted the seeds of salvation of the world.

This triggered Pujya Deepakbhai to write a letter to Pujya Dadashri expressing his desire to dedicate his life in helping spread this spiritual knowledge and in parallel pursue his own spiritual salvation. Eventually, with Pujya Dadashri's blessing and grace, he took a lifelong vow of celibacy, to which he has remained sincere, not just in the physical sense but also through his mind and speech. He has perfected his vow of celibacy to such an extent that many young men and women are inspired to do the same after spending just a few hours in his company.

With utmost sincerity, care, humility, and without any self serving intent, Pujya Deepakbhai helped Pujya Niruma from the smallest seva of picking flowers off the floor at the end of Pujya Dadashri’s satsang (spiritual discourse) to compiling and editing all books of Pujya Dadashri. Pujya Dadashri had recognized the quality of utmost sincerity of Pujya Deepakbhai back in1974. Pujya Dadashri had stated that Pujya Deepakbhai has a lot of sincerity and it is such that if someone develops and molds him, he can rise to the top in any direction he is guided in.

In 1987 when visiting USA, Pujya Dadashri’s health deteriorated. He then specially called for Pujya Deepakbhai to come to the US. Pujya Dadashri primed Pujya Deepakbhai for 45 days to prepare him to give satsangs. Pujya Dadashri performed a special vidhi (spiritual ceremony) to empower Pujya Deepakbhai with siddhis (spiritual powers) to conduct satsangs with seekers and also gave Pujya Niruma the siddhi to conduct satsangs and Gnan Vidhi (impart knowledge of the self to seekers) . Pujya Dadashri said “I am giving my spiritual powers for you to use”. From that day on, having been blessed by Pujya Dadashri, Pujya Deepakbhai started conducting satsangs about Pujya Dadashri's Gnan.

Pujya Deepakbhai had been with Pujya Niruma since 1971. She nurtured him like a mother through pure spiritual love. He reciprocated with perfect humility (param vinay) and respect. Along with Pujya Niruma, he had many personal satsangs with Pujya Dadashri where they discussed topics of celibacy and ways of achieving the ultimate spiritual awareness.

Just as Pujya Niruma had remained humble and had oneness with Pujya Dadashri, accepting everything Pujya Dadashri subjected her to prepare her for jagat kalyaan, Pujya Deepakbhai mirrored Pujya Niruma’s example. He never waned in his humility towards Pujya Niruma, and remained sincere to her until the very end. As per Pujya Dadashri's instructions to her to prepare someone for the continuation of this spiritual knowledge to the world, Pujya Niruma continued to mold and nurture Deepakbhai as the right heir to carry out Dadashri's mission of the world's salvation.

Pujya Deepakbhai earned tremendous blessings from Pujya Dadashri and Pujya Niruma and eventually in 2003; Pujya Niruma graced him to conduct Gnan Vidhi.

Just like Pujya Niruma, he travels extensively throughout villages, towns, and cities in India and abroad in the UK, USA, Canada, Europe, Africa, Dubai, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand imparting the knowledge of this profound spiritual science of ‘Akram Vignan’ and enlightening thousands of spiritual seekers.

In keeping with Pujya Dadashri’s and Pujya Niruma’s practice of purity, Pujya Deepakbhai uses his personal money to take care of his worldly needs.

It is the experience of countless people that Pujya Deepakbhai resolves their personal problems and questions either through individual interaction or amidst large numbers of seekers through satsangs. One experiences subtle presence of Pujya Dadashri and Pujya Niruma in Pujya Deepakbhai’s satsangs. Pujya Deepakbhai continues to give solutions and guidance to seekers around the globe to resolve their problems and suffering with liberation (moksha) being the ultimate goal in this path.
